From Cobra Pilot to Oil & Gas Engineer
🎯 The Journey
Cray began like many military leaders: smart, driven, and motivated—but unsure how to translate his military background into private sector value. He joined our 5-Week Employment Prep Course (EPC), where he was introduced to the foundational truth that would change everything:
The military and private sector are two fundamentally different environments.
Inside the EPC, Cray began learning how to regulate and optimize his thinking and decision-making in this new context. He studied how companies are organized, how they function, and how profit-driven roles create value across the enterprise. This reorientation gave him a new mental framework—and a new level of confidence.
🤝 The Community Phase
After completing the course, Cray entered the PreVeteran Alumni Community. There, he continued to apply what he learned—working the tools, using the model, and exploring real-world options with mentorship and peer support.
He didn’t rush into the first job he found. Instead, he took the time to explore several industries he found personally interesting, ruling out both the aerospace & defense and financial services sectors along the way. This deliberate exploration gave him clarity—and leverage.
🚀 The Result
By the time he reached his employment window, Cray wasn’t just a candidate—he was a valuable prospect. Two companies offered him roles. He chose the one that best aligned with his goals and has now been with that employer for over 18 months.
As Cray puts it:
“Without PreVeteran, I would have used [a well-known military recruiter] to find a job that would have paid me at least $50,000 less on my initial offer. PreVeteran gave me the confidence to ditch the safety net and do the job search on my own.”
