Your BD Team Doesn’t Need More Tools.

They Need Context.

Most Business Development (BD) teams operate on activity, assumptions, and inconsistent definitions of what “BD” even means inside the business.

✪ In aerospace & defense — where many BD hires are transitioning military and veterans — the context gap widens even further, often in ways leaders can’t see. ✪

This training solves the root problem:

BD professionals lack shared business understanding, role clarity, and strategic alignment.

We teach BD teams the business fundamentals, mindset shifts, and role proficiency they were never given — enabling them to stop chasing noise and start generating real, predictable revenue.

The Real Problem is the One Nobody Sees

Most BD professionals don’t realize they’re struggling — and neither do their leaders.

Confidence and activity mask a deeper issue:

They don’t understand the business engine they’re operating in.

This invisible context gap creates:

● Misaligned pursuits
● Chaotic BD behavior
● New BD hires (often veterans in A&D) struggling without knowing why

This is the root problem BD teams can’t see — and the one PreVeteran is built to solve.

Why BD Fails (Even With Smart, Motivated People)

BD teams don’t struggle because they lack skill — they struggle because they lack context.

Most BD professionals enter the role without understanding:

● How the business makes money
● How BD links to the company’s strategy
● How to focus on the most viable pursuits
● The role they play in routine business processes

So they chase everything, confuse activity for progress, and unintentionally create internal chaos.

✪ For veterans, the problem is amplified — they’re still thinking in a mission-driven system while working inside a profit-driven one. ✪

BD fails when the business context is missing. We fix that.

What BD Really Does Inside the Business

BD isn’t networking, relationship-building, or “finding opportunities.”

Those are just activities.

The real function of BD is far simpler — and far more strategic:

BD creates the new program that delivers the revenue and earnings the company seeks.

Everything else exists to support that one responsibility.

Once BD professionals understand this, everything changes:

● They stop chasing noise
● They focus on opportunities aligned with strategy
● They understand how their work affects margin, cashflow, and portfolio health
● They connect their daily actions to critical business processes
● They think like owners, not activity machines

This single shift transforms BD from a chaotic activity center into a coherent, aligned, revenue-producing engine.

How We Build High-Clarity, High-Performing BD Teams

We Teach BD Through a Simple, Proven Structure.

We standardize how BD teams define the business, evaluate pursuits, and talk about the work — so performance becomes repeatable.

Layer 1 — Context:
Understanding the business engine, profit model, and BD’s real purpose.

Layer 2 — Alignment:
Connecting BD activity to strategy, portfolio needs, and business processes.

Layer 3 — Role Proficiency:
The skills, decisions, and behaviors that design the revenue-producing program.

This is how BD finally becomes clear, aligned, and effective.

Is this BD training applicable to veterans only?

Aerospace and defense companies consistently report a lack of foundational business development (BD) training. BD leaders often manage teams with diverse backgrounds and varying levels of experience, making it challenging to standardize efforts and effectively convert prospects into sales.

Our training establishes a shared business foundation and standardized operating context for BD teams — reducing variability in how BD is understood, executed, and measured across the organization.

Our "meat and potatoes" BD training program provides the essential skills your team needs to align, streamline efforts, and drive results.

It's interesting that you offer BD training. What's the story behind that?

When our founder Jason retired from the U.S. Air Force, he was hired into an entry-level BD role at Rockwell Collins — a $6B aerospace and defense company. In that first year, Jason quickly realized that while he was capable and motivated, he lacked the business context required to be effective in a profit-driven enterprise.

It took years of asking questions across finance, programs, strategy, and capture teams to piece together how BD actually functioned inside the business — knowledge that was never formally taught or standardized.

This experience revealed a broader pattern: aerospace and defense companies consistently hire smart people into BD roles without providing a shared business foundation. This training was built to close that gap — and to give BD teams a common operating context from day one.
